Time-lapse photography is a technique whereby the frequency at which frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than that used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. For example, an image of a scene may be captured once every second, then played back at 30 frames per second; the result is an apparent 30 times speed increase.

Processes that would normally appear subtle to the human eye, e.g. the motion of the sun and stars in the sky, become very pronounced.

Project description

Since I am a photography and technology nut naturally I was drawn to experiment with the use of time-lapse. I have used these clips in some of my recent music videos for New Monsoon. (check out the music video page). The obvious element required for this type of photography is patience. To get these views I hike up a local hill and sit for hours. Therefore, while relaxing and awe inspiring, I don’t think I will be doing a ton of these in the future.
